It gives me great pleasure, as Principal of The Model National School to welcome you to our school website. This website has been prepared in the hope that it will become a valuable source of school news and information for parents, pupils, and visitors to the site.

On our website, you can check out photos of some of the many events that take place in our school.
We at The Model National School are very proud of the school with its rich tradition of teaching and learning, together with sporting activity and community involvement.

Along with the Board of Management, we take great pride in providing a safe and secure learning environment for all children of varying abilities and needs. Our entire staff is committed to establishing and maintaining a school environment that allows our pupils to grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Our website will be updated regularly to provide visitors with updated notices, bulletins and other news on a variety of subjects.

The Model National School is a small, vibrant, rural school under Protestant Patronage. The school predominantly serves the Protestant community area. Children are taught to respect and appreciate each other. Our children are encouraged and motivated in a nurturing atmosphere to use their talents and fulfil their unique potential.

We are five teacher school with four mainstream class teachers and a Special Educational Needs (S.E.T.) teacher. We have one full time Special Needs Assistant (S.N.A.) and one part-time Special Needs Assistant. The school also employs a part time caretaker and secretary.

The children who attend The Model School are taught the subjects as laid out in the New Curriculum – English, Irish, Maths, History, Geography, Science, (S.E.S.E.), Social, Personal & Health Education, Music, Drama, Arts & Crafts and Physical Education.

All children take part in tennis, dance, gymnastics and soccer/GAA activities throughout the year. In addition, children in 1st-6th class are taught to play the tin whistle while 3rd-6th classes also have the option of fiddle/violin lessons. Children from 3rd-6th class partake in swimming lessons.
