Dear Parents,

BBC Northern Ireland: BBC will be recording in our school on Monday 24th June.  All consent forms, which were sent home last week, must be signed in order for your child to be in the room when they are recording. Any forms not received will mean your child/children will be unable to be a part of this TV programme. 6th class are very welcome to come in to take part.

Please bring tin whistles, fiddles and wear full uniform please.

Skipathon: Thank you to everyone who raised money for The Irish Heart Foundation. The children raised a fantastic €1,260.30 from sponsorship, which we have sent on to this great cause. Well done to everyone for raising such a wonderful amount. If you still have sponsorship cards at home, please drop them to the school a.s.a.p.

Work Book Lists: The class book lists will be sent home before the end of the school year. Kevin in Bailie Stores will also be sent a copy of each classes list. The book lists will be emailed again this year. If possible, please try and avoid plastic covers and look for recyclable brown paper to cover any books this year.

School Reports: The end of year school reports were sent home on Monday with each child.

School Calendar 19/20: Next year’s school calendar was emailed out and is now up on the school website.

Cycle Safety: Junior and Senior Infants had a cycle safety instructor in school last week who was teaching everyone how to cycle safely, brake properly and balance. A very interesting fact the cycle safety officer told us on the day was that a cycle helmet has only a 5-year lifespan! Please check the manufacture date on those helmets!

Bikes in School: As some children choose to cycle to school we strongly recommend that these bikes are locked. We take no responsibility if these bicycles are stolen from school grounds.

School Photographs: Both School Tours, Peace IV and some Tennis photos are now on the school website. Cycle Safety, Sports Day photos to follow….

Contact Details: If you have changed your email or phone number please let the school know immediately in order to receive updates from the school.  If by some reason you cannot get through to the school by phone, please email the school and we will get back to you a.s.a.p.

New School Website:  www.themodelschool.ie   We aim to update this new website with newsletters, pictures and information as regularly as possible.  Please take a minute to have a browse.

Class Teacher or Principal – If you have a question/issue about your child and want to discuss this, please speak to the class teacher first. If the issue persists, you can then request to meet/speak with Mr. Mc Hugo. This is a school procedure.

Summer Holidays: School will finish next Wednesday, 26th June at 12pm for everyone. We re-open again on Wednesday 28th August at 9:20am.

Have a great Summer and thank you for your continued support again this year. Water safety wristbands will be given to all children to remind them of the importance of water safety during the holidays and knowing when/where it is safe to swim at the beach. www.watersafety.ie
